On Thursday, June 8, the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Don Franklin Mitsubishi into its membership. The business, located at 3001 Lexington Road, offers a wide selection of new and used cars, trucks and SUVs.

“We are proud to be in Nicholasville and thank you for your support,” Franklin told the crowd assembled for the ribbon cutting event. “We plan on more expansion and for many more jobs.”

Franklin said that Jessamine County car buyers can stop by for great deals and the kind of great service after the sale that has had the company in business for 49 years.

At the event, the company donated $2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass. Sarah Jordan, the development and communications manager of the organization, said that the donation will be very beneficial to their cause.

“For over three decades, we have been serving families from central Kentucky and beyond,” Jordan told the Jessamine Journal. “Last year alone, we served families for over 7,000 total nights, and much like Don Franklin, we are dedicated to ensuring that families are together, so we are really, really happy that Don Franklin has chosen to support our families.”

The local Ronald McDonald House that is most used by central Kentucky families is located at 1300 Sports Center Drive in Lexington near Commonwealth Stadium. Jordan said that they have been leasing the land from the University of Kentucky Athletics for $1.00 per year for 32 years.

“The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home away from home for families who have pediatric patients from 21 all the way down to in utero who are being served by a clinic or a hospital in the area,” Jordan explained. “Those families can expect a private room, a kitchen and living room much like their home that they have had to leave in order to receive that medical care. We are available for those families for as long as they need it.”

Jordan said that the home is operated solely on community generosity and donations from businesses such as Franklin’s.

“We support the communities because they support us,” Franklin said of the donation.
