School’s out for the summer, and approximately 565 students from Jessamine County have stepped into the season as graduates.

East Jessamine High School ushered out 260 graduates from Southland Christian Church on Friday, 13 of which were career-ready, 51 college-ready and 111 college and career-ready. According to the schools administration there was a 99 percent college and career-ready rate for the class of 2017. There were also 20 students who received Summa Cum Laude — which is a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 to 4.49, 23 who received Magna Cum Laude — which is a grade point average of 3.75 – 3.99, and 25 Cum Laude — which is a grade point average of 3.5 – 3.74. Senior Kaitlyn A. Simpson gave the Senior Address.

West Jessamine High School had 261 graduates leave Southland Christian Church on Friday, three of which received Egregia Cum Laude — a grade point average of 4.5 and above, 19 received Summa Cum Laude, 20 Magna Cum Laude and 21 Cum Laude. Seniors Taylor Hatton and Lauren Hemenover gave the Senior Address.

The Providence School handed out 44 diplomas and Keys at their graduation ceremony at Wilmore Free Methodist Church on Monday, Student speakers included Brittany Stanfield and Corey Barnes, both of which have been with TPS since sixth grade. Corey Barnes was also awarded the Providence Award.
