McKinney pleads not guilty in District Court

Albert McKinney pleaded not guilty in Jessamine County District Court on Feb. 2 concerning one count of tampering with physical evidence on Feb. 2.

McKinney, 66, is the grandfather of Tyler Jeffers, 18, who was arrested and charged with the murder of 15-year-old Leo Travers on Jan. 13.

McKinney attempted to hide the weapon used to shoot Travers in a tote in the garage, according to a police report from the Nicholasville Police Department. 

McKinney is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 20th at 2 p.m. for tampering with physical evidence, according to the Jessamine County District Court Docket.
