Women in Nicholasville now have a place to go to receive help with their substance abuse treatment goals.

Balanced Recovery Inc. — a new substance abuse treatment facility for women — opened its doors on Monday with the goal to empower women and empower recovery.

The facility, located at 151 Coconut Grove Drive in Nicholasville, focuses on assisting women through crisis intervention and stabilization, according to the center’s handout.

“The women will start in an intake room and then graduate into their own rooms,” Eddie Jacobs, public relations president of Balanced Recovery said. “We understand the need of this area and the heroin epidemic especially.”

While at the clinic, intake coordinator Ashley Kays said patients will be taught how to live independently and learn various daily life skills such as cooking.

“We just want everyone to know that we are a residential facility that meets the needs of women and pregnant women who are struggling with substance abuse,” Kays said.

The clinic currently only accepts cash and private insurance, but it is in the Medicare credential process, said Stevanie Smith, clinical director, and therapist at Balanced Recovery.

The creation of the 16-bed inpatient facility with a group therapy room has been ongoing since August 2015.

Balanced Recovery also has locations in Lexington and Mt. Sterling. For more information about how Balanced Recovery can help you or someone you know, contact the facility at 859-887-0602 or visit the website www.balancedrecovery.com.

Correction: Balanced Recovery is only an inpatient center for women.
