East cheerleaders record fourth-place finish in state tournament

The East Jessamine High cheerleaders followed their fourth consecutive 12th Region Tournament victory with a fourth-place finish in the 2016 state championship on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The finish comes after last year’s seventh-place finish in the Coed A division. The Jaguars totaled 72.4 points, which tied them with Scott County. Daviess County pulled ahead by just .02 points to take third. Barren County (83.4) and Central Hardin (75.7) rounded out the top two.

Paul Laurence Dunbar took first place in the All-Girls Large division, followed by Bowling Green and Greenup County rounding out the top three.

Corbin claimed first place in the All-Girls Medium division, followed by Madison Southern and Simon Kenton.

Pikeville, North Laurel and Letcher County Central rounded out the top three in the All-Girls Small division.

Bullitt East took first in the All-Girls Super division, followed by Madison Central and Dixie Heights.

In the Coed B division, Graves County took first place with Bullitt Central and Owensboro taking second and third place.
