THURSDAY

—Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a Movie Night “Love and Friendship” (2016; PG rating; 92 mins) beginning 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10.  Free and open to the public. 

—Jessamine County Public Library will host Gourd Christmas Ornament from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10.

—Jessamine County Public Library will host Teen Appy Hour from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. 

—Jessamine County Public Library will host Healthy Life Club from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. 

—Yellow Wood Tutoring in Wilmore will host a parent workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 10. The workshop will help community members gain knowledge and tools to help strengthen visual processing and memory. It will also show participants how to identify signs and symptoms of a weak visual system. 

—Nicholasville/Jessamine County Parks and Recreation is opening the Coolidge Building for walkers and public exercise from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Coolidge Building is at 499 E. Maple St. For more information, visit njcpr.org or call (859) 885-9787.

—A women’s Bible study will meet Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Salvation Army on 205 South 1st St. during the fall. All women are invited. The group will be reading and studying scriptures related to the life of the disciples of Jesus. The book, “Twelve Ordinary Men” by John MacArthur will be used as a supplement to the teaching. They will discuss a different disciple each week with an overview given Sept. 1. Bring your Bibles and learn together. No childcare is available. —The Wilmore Senior Community Center hosts a creative-writing class with Carolyn Barnum every Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. — Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a Bible study (First John) with new Wilmore UMC Pastor D. Merricks, beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursdays. 

—Wilmore TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight-loss support group meets Thursdays in the community room at Jessamine Village, at the end of South Maple Street in Wilmore. New members are welcome. Contact Eva Jacobs at (859) 858-3456.

—Walking With Love Food Pantry at 220 Edgewood Drive is open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday.

FRIDAY

—Wilmore Senior Community Center will host Veterans Day Salute beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. 

—The Wilmore Senior Community Center hosts Flex Exercise with Aureol Moore every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m.

SATURDAY

—Jessamine County Public Library will host Intro to JCPL Creative Space from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 a.m to 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. 

—Thompson-Hood Veterans Center will host a Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. 

—Wilmore Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 on Main Street in Wilmore.

—Asbury will host a play of 12 Angry Jurors. The play will run on Nov. 10, Nov. 12, and Nov. 17-19 in the Greathouse Theatre at Asbury. 

—Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a Holiday Gift Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.

—Jessamine County Public Library will host JCPL Writers Forum from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 13. 

MONDAY

—Jessamine County Public Library will host Mother Goose Storytime from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m on Monday, Nov. 14.

—Jessamine County Public Library will host Make and Take Craft: Homemade Spices Mix from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m on Monday, Nov. 14. 

—Through colorfully wrapped, gift-filled shoeboxes, children in need in more than 100 countries can experience hope this year. Simply pack a shoebox with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and notes of encouragement, and you can make a tangible difference in the life of a child overseas. —Wilmore Senior Community Center will host “The Blue Planet: Seas of Life!” (50 min. each) beginning at 1:15 p.m. on Mondays, November 14, 21, & 28. Another follow up to the monumental “Planet Earth” series – narrated again by David Attenborough. Free and open to the public.

—The joint meetings of the Jessamine County Democratic Executive Committee and the Jessamine County Democratic Woman’s Club are hosted the second Monday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the fiscal courtroom of the Jessamine County Court House.  Everyone welcome! —A Resilience Community Support Group for loved ones of individuals in addiction or in recovery, will be hosted from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Jessamine Library. Four group facilitators, two resilience program graduates and two experienced ministers will form two teams. Those interested in becoming a participating member can contact Kelly Combs at (859) 619-9111.

—The Salvation Army, Jessamine County Service Center, is taking applications for holiday assistance  from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday this week and next week. The applications include Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner as well as the Angel Tree Program for children. Applications can be found at 205 South First Street in Nicholasville. —Wilmore Senior Community Center will host 2016 Heroes, Saints and Legends Celebration beginning at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30. 

—The third annual St. “Nich” Christmas Fest will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 in downtown Nicholasville. Activities will include shopping at local businesses and eateries, a 5K run, music, dance, craft show, parades and of course Santa. An old fashioned trolley will be making its way though downtown to carry festival goers to designated spots.
