Jessamine County Water District #1 honored

Jessamine County Water District #1 was honored for their outstanding service for this past year. The district was honored at the Kentucky Rural Water Association’s 37th Annual Conference held in Louisville.
“We didn’t know that much about the award,” Carl Waits, on the Water Board since 1990 said. “We appreciate the honorable mention, but when you have a lot of great people working with you it makes it a whole lot easier to get things done.”
Each year ten water and wastewater utilities are announced as Wooden Bucket finalists and are honored.
The award is presented to a water/an or wear utility that has made substantial and lasting improvements in providing high levels of customer service, high quality drinking water and wastewater services in its community, according to the press release.
“I think we got recognized because we are trying to stay ahead of the game in-terms of having a lot if demand in Brannon Crossing and with all of the houses being built,” Waits said.
One of the reasons Water District 1 was mentioned was because of their recent water tank addition.
“(the water district) felt like it was necessary to build this water tank,” Waits said. “A month ago the tank was just starting to be in service. It was a year long process.”
The Lebanon Water Works Company was named as the utility most deserving of this award. However,
being recognized as one of the top ten finalists is indeed an honor, according to the press release.
Its been a community effort with our government leaders, Waits said.
“I think it goes to speak loudly for our crew that provides the water to everyone in North Jessamine,” Waits said. “I have a great crew, great office staff, great engineers at HMB out of Frankfort and it just makes it easier to accomplish great things.”
