Asbury receives top ranking

Asbury University has received rankings naming them one of the best colleges of South Regional Universities.
“One of the reasons Asbury was in the Top 5 of the regional colleges category for five-straight years, before being top 15 in the universities category this year, is because the administration and faculty are continually raising the academic standards,” Dr. Tim Campbell, Academic Dean at Asbury said in an email to the Jessamine Journal. “An impressive 13-to-1 student to faculty ratio allow our students to engage with faculty at levels of serious inquiry and learning. That’s hard to match anywhere.”
U.S. News and World report ranked Asbury number 14 on the list. The schools were ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence, according to the website.
“Asbury graduates also have extremely low loan default rates in comparison to many other schools in Kentucky,” Brad Johnson, Asbury’s director of marketing and communications, said. “So prospective students can see that an Asbury education truly pays off.”
Other Kentucky schools included on this list are: Bellarmine University,in Louisville, at number 12; Western Kentucky University at 31; Murray State University at 35; Midway University at 69; and Morehead State at 72.
This top recognition by our peers and U.S News & World Report reinforces the idea that academic excellence and spiritual vitality can be integrated together, Brandon Combs, director of undergraduate admissions at Asbury, said in an email to the Jessamine Journal.
According to the U.S. News website, some factors used are location and the feel of campus life; the range of cost and the availability of financial aid, academic offerings, activities and sports.
“Asbury is landing at or near the top of state, regional and national rankings nearly every month now,” Johnson said. “Just last week, Asbury was named the ‘Safest College in Kentucky’ by an organization. With the consistent quality of students, faculty, staff and alumni, it’s really no surprise.”
Asbury received a 73 out of 100 and tied with Christopher Newport University in Newport News Virginia.
Some Kentucky universities on the national list include: University of Kentucky number 133 and the University of Louisville at 171.
