Dear editor,

When a person files for candidacy in a Kentucky partisan election, they must complete a Notification and Declaration form.  Included in this form are statements… “I do solemnly swear, that I am a registered (party),”  and “I believe in the principles and policies.”  Russ Meyer signed this document in 2014 and again in 2016.

In signing, Russ swore that he supported the planks of the Democratic Party. This includes strong and unequivocal support for abortion, eliminating voter I.D’s for elections, choice of abortion as a fundamental constitutional right, strengthened gun control, embrace and support same sex marriage and other similar planks.  When talking with Russ, he will tell you otherwise.  Which position is your sworn true word, Russ?

Having personally observed Russ in Frankfort on several days this past legislative session, please know that every vote by Russ was exactly what Greg Stumbo had dictated.  Never once did Russ vote to let a matter come to the floor for discussion if leader Stumbo wished otherwise. With Russ, Stumbo has an absolute “yes man!”

Russ’ yard signs are more numerous than there are bunnies at a rabbit fertility convention.  Did you ever wonder why?  You see, Russ has a campaign pool of over $70,000!  These dollars are from a small power brokering group who know the obvious… Russ is a politician’s politician. ‘Nuff said!

Voters for the 39th legislative district have a choice. Is Russ Meyer to be sent back for another term as one of Greg Stumbo’s “political lackeys,” or can we do better?  Russ claims and swears and then does the opposite. Scripture says one (not even Russ Meyer) can’t serve two masters…

For 2016, Robby Gullette will have my vote.  Is he perfect?  No, but he is someone who is consistent and straightforward.
