THURSDAY 

— Jessamine County Public Library will host Jr. Tech Club from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29.

— Nicholasville/Jessamine County Parks and Recreation is opening the Coolidge Building for walkers and public exercise from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Coolidge Building is at 499 E. Maple St. For more information, visit njcpr.org or call (859) 885-9787.

— A women’s Bible study will meet Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Salvation Army on 205 South 1st St. during the fall. All women are invited. The group will be reading and studying scriptures related to the life of the disciples of Jesus. The book, “Twelve Ordinary Men” by John MacArthur will be used as a supplement to the teaching. They will discuss a different disciple each week with an overview given Sept. 1. Bring your Bibles and learn together. No childcare is available. — The Wilmore Senior Community Center hosts a creative writing class with Carolyn Barnum every Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. — Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a Bible study (First John) with new Wilmore UMC Pastor D. Merricks beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursdays. 

— Wilmore TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight-loss support group meets Thursdays in the community room at Jessamine Village, at the end of South Maple Street in Wilmore. New members are welcome. Contact Eva Jacobs at (859) 858-3456.

— Walking With Love Food Pantry at 220 Edgewood Drive is open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday.

FRIDAY

— Jessamine County Public Library will host Jump and Jive from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.

— Jessamine County Public Library will host a job search assistance from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. 

— Jessamine County Public Library will host Sprout: Ky State Parks from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. 

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center hosts Flex Exercise with Aureol Moore every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m.

SATURDAY

— First Vineyard will host the 2016 River Blast, Pops at the Palisades from 4 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 1. The event will feature activities including arts and crafts, outdoor living exhibits, dry land paddle race, dessert competition, Pops at the Palisades concert, cannon firing, and wine tasting.  Entertainment will include the EKU traveling Cello Ensemble, Young at Heart Big Band, Asbury University Orchestra, fireworks and history presentation on the Vineyard.

— Jessamine County Public Library will host a teen ACT practice test from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. 

— Jessamine County Public Library will host a mother-daughter book club from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. 

— Lecture at Camp Nelson “Pain and Glory,” The Civil War in Kentucky. Author and educator Anne Marshall will present “Pain and Glory: The Civil War in Kentucky” at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1 at Camp Nelson Heritage Park, 6614 Danville Rd. in Nicholasville. Dr. Marshall is associate professor of history at Mississippi State University and is the author of “Creating a Confederate Kentucky: The Lost Cause and Civil War Memory in a Border State.” For more information call 859-881-5716 or visit www.campnelson.org.

—The Annual Wilmore Arts and Crafts Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 on Main Street in historic downtown Wilmore. There will be juried crafts, local eateries and live music. The rain venue will be Providence School on Lexington Avenue in Wilmore.

— The Dunn/Hamm Family Reunion will be held at the Nicholasville City County Park in the Blue Building on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 from 12pm-5pm. Questions – please call Meredith Mitchem @ 859-881-1022.

SUNDAY

— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, 100 Lime Lane, offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

MONDAY

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host Mothergoose storytime from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3.

— The joint meetings of the Jessamine County Democratic Executive Committee and the Jessamine County Democratic Woman’s Club are hosted the second Monday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the fiscal courtroom of the Jessamine County Court House.  Everyone welcome! — Providence Christian Church, 101 Providence Way, hosts a “Bodies in Motion” low-impact exercise class every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a flex exercise with Aureol More beginning at 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 

TUESDAY

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host Mothergoose storytime from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4.

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host a teen coding club from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host Family Storytime from 7 to 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4. 

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center hosts scrapbooking with Sharon Campbell every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

— Walking With Love’s Laundry Love ministry is offered every third Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. at Wildcat Laundry, 630 Edgewood Drive. Households of up to four people can do a double-load of laundry for free; households of more than four people can do a triple-load of laundry for free. Anyone can use the service, but each household is limited to using it once every three months. An I.D. will be requested in order to track how often households are using the service.

WEDNESDAY

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host preschool storytime from 10 to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host Exercise With Ease from 10:30 to 11:30 on Wednesday Oct. 5. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host munch and mingle from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host silver screen: “The Day the Earth Stood Still” from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host U Can Create from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. 

— Walking With Love Food Pantry at 220 Edgewood Drive is open from 12 to 2 p.m. and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

  — Jessamine County Public Library will host Cleveland Museum of Art: Virtual Field Trip from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host intro to JCPL Creative Space from 5 to 5:45 on Thursday, Oct. 6. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host teen appy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6. 

 — Jessamine County Public Library will host Meet the Artist: David Farmer from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 6. 

— The first annual Race for the Arts, a 5K run/walk event to benefit the Creative Art League, is going to be hosted Oct. 8 in downtown Nicholasville. A mural that has been painted for the Windstream brick wall that is on Main Street (in the 100 N Main block) will be unveiled following the presentation of the race awards. There will be a $25 entry to run. 

— The Drury/McGohon annual family reunion will be hosted on Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Blue Building at City/County Park. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and dinner will begin at 12:30 p.m. Help setting up would be appreciated. Bring your favorite dish or dessert.

— The Wesley Village Blood Drive will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. on Monday Oct. 10 at the Wilmore Senior Community Center Auditorium. In addition to helping save another person’s life with your donation, there will be free t-shirts and snacks given out to all, plus a drawing for a $50 Kroger gift card.
