An Asbury Theological Seminary graduate was arrested in Florida last Sunday for allegedly traveling to two different locations in an effort to have sex with a 14-year old boy, according to Washington Post.

David Donald Hoppenjan, 52, served as senior pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Pace, just outside Pensacola, for the past year.

Hoppenjan was reported to have pastored at other churches in Florida as well as in Alabama.

Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church confirmed that Hoppenjan no longer works at First United Methodist Church, according to the Washington Post.

In May 2006, Hoppenjan lived in Wilmore and graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity degree, according to the registrars office at Asbury.

Hoppenjan was among 22 men arrested in an internet sting titled “Operation Undertow,” which involved four sheriff’s offices, six police departments and multiple site and federal agencies, whoes agents lured suspected child predators through the internet to an undisclosed Florida location, according to the Washington Post.

Warrants were issued for the mens arrest after they responded to ads for sex with teenage males and females created by agents.
