While I appreciate the concern to balance the federal budget, I don’t think that Jim Bunning was truly motivated by that reason or by concern for his constituents when he forced yet another Republican filibuster. He displayed a complete lack of statesmanship in his actions while thumbing his nose at the 14,000 Kentuckians he was willing to deny benefits to as well as the 1.2 million Americans across our country. It is such an embarrassment to Kentucky that our senators should be known for such grandstanding partisan behavior. Our state has much to offer, and I would like to see us be leading at the front, finding solutions instead of being the problem.
