Deadline approaching for land protection programs

news@jessaminejournal.com
March 3, 2010

The deadline to apply for two NRCS programs that offer landowners the opportunities to protect, restore and enhance wetland through the Wetland Reserve Program is March 15.

Both programs are voluntary, and both authorize easement compensation based on the fair market value of the land, as determined by an appraisal or an area-wide market analysis or survey.

For more information on the program, contact NRCS at 859-254-5806 ext. 3 or call the Jessamine County Conservation District, at 859-885-4673.
