The Asbury softball team picked up where it left off last season — dominating the KIAC. The Eagles swept Midway College Monday. 6-2 and 10-0 in their season opener.

Asbury (2-0, 2-0 KIAC) fell behind in game one 2-0 in the fourth before rallying for five runs in the top of the fifth. Rebecca Baker led off the inning with a double, Kendall Ratchford knocked in one with a single, and Emily Ethington brought home two with a single.

Danielle Jennings came on in relief in the fourth inning to earn the victory for the Eagles, pitching only 1/3 of an inning. Stephanie Wade walked three and gave up two singles while striking out two in her three innings of work to get the save. Maris Harreld would dominate Midway in game two as she went the distance in the 10-0, five-inning game. Harreld gave up four hits and struck out three.

The Eagles didn't waste any time in game two, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Ethington drove home Ratchford and Mary Ann Warford, who singled. Asbury added one in the second and two in the third before scoring four in the fourth. Warford, Ethington, and Wade all drove in runs in the fourth as Asbury collected four hits in the inning, three for extra bases.
