Aqua Colts take second in home meet

The East and West Jessamine swim teams got a tune up in their last home meet of the season before the regionals next week.

Both teams took part in the meet at the Luce Center last week against Danville and Anderson County. The Jessamine clubs will travel to the Falling Springs Recreation Center in Woodford County Feb. 5 and 6 for the regional meet.

Danville won both the meet on both the girls’ and boys sides, taking the overall meet with 979 points. The girls scored 391 and the boys captured 588 points. Both West Jessamine teams finished in second place. The girls earned 316 points and the boys 247. The East boys and girls finished fourth.

In the girls’ 200-yard medley relay, the West team of Bonnie Lewis, Faith Kempf, Melinda Trump and Ouree Lee finished first.

East captured third with the team of Amaya Garcia-Timko, Deanna Crawford, Chloe Spiller and Brandy Loss.

In the boys’ 200-yard medley relay, the Colts captured second place thanks to the team of Chance Barney, Reid Allen, Micheal Goodlett and Johnathan Sekela.

Lindsey Daugherty took home third place for the Colts in the 200-yard freestyle. Kempf won the 200-yard individual medley.

Sekela finished third in the boys’ 200-yard individual medley for West.

Trump finished second in the 50-yard freestyle for West and teammate Lindsey Colliver took home third place. Fourth place belonged to East Jessamine’s Shelby Cosby. Crawford of East finished in eighth place.

Goodlett won the boys’ 50-yard freestyle for the Colts and Stefan Stryker captured eighth place. East’s Keegan Smith rounded out the top 10 in the event.

In the 100-yard freestyle, West’s Lewis took second place and East’s Cosby finished in third. For the boys, West’s Barney finished second.

Kempf defeated all comers in the 500-yard freestyle.

Barney won the boys’ 100-yard backstroke and Allen won the 100-yard breaststroke for the Colts.
